  • St. Joseph fire chief retiring this week

    St. Joseph Fire Chief Kenny Cordonnier will retire from his position on April 4 after a 43-year career, according to News-Press Now. He has served as chief since 2021. Assistant Fire Chief Jamie McVicker will serve as acting fire chief during a search for a replacement fire chief. 

  • St. Francis Foundation announced new scholarship

    The St. Francis Foundation recently announced the new Ron and Billye McCrary Scholarship for Nursing Excellence thanks to a $35,000 gift from the McCrarys. More information for the scholarship dedicated to educating current and future nurses can be found at stfrancishospitalfoundation.com. The foundation will start accepting applications in August.

  • St. Joseph native now guard for Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

    A St. Joseph native and military member is now a Sentinel guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, according to News-Press Now. Josh Habeeb was awarded the 732nd badge since it was first established in 1958. 

  • Downtown Maryville presents awards at annual meeting

    Downtown Maryville honored three community volunteers during its annual stockholder meeting earlier this month. Doug Seipel received the Shooting Star Award for being a new volunteer for Fall into Fun. Benjamin Blackford was the  Downtown Maryville Ambassador and Stephanie Campbell-Yount received the Downtown Champion Award.

  • Local school, university recording swatting calls

    Law enforcement is investigating swatting calls to North Nodaway R-VI and Northwest Missouri State University yesterday, according to the Maryville Forum. A call to the university came in around 11:30 a.m. while a call to the North Nodaway Elementary School came in about noon. The call is reported to have been traced to an over…
